Implementation and Evaluation of a Digital Wound Care Solution: Implications for Adoption and Impact on the Quintuple Aim.

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC), Swift Medical Inc. (Swift), and the University of Toronto, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, are seeking a post-doctoral fellow (PDF) to collaborate on a project entitled “Implementation and Evaluation of a Digital Wound Care Solution: Implications for Adoption and Impact on the Quintuple Aim”. Swifts’ Advanced AI wound care technology (Swift-AI) is being implemented in two Canadian community healthcare systems, presenting an opportunity to understand how digital technologies that support the health and wellbeing of older adults can be adopted and implemented at scale. The lessons learnt from this evaluation will contribute to a broader understanding of the pre-requisites for successful integration of AgeTech into community health systems.

The Opportunity:
This two-year Mitacs Accelerate Industry project will evaluate the implementation of an innovative wound care solution in the Canadian healthcare system. Guided by the Non-adoption, Abandonment, Scale-up, Spread, and Sustainability Complexity Assessment Tool (NASSS-CAT), the postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) will conduct implementation research to understand the adoption, integration and scalability of Swift-AI at a community health system level. The PDF will develop the study protocol, collaborate with hospital-based study sites to conduct research and will disseminate findings to the scientific community and relevant clinical stakeholders and policy makers.

In addition to collaborating with the Government of Canada, Industry, and healthcare partners from across the country, this PDF will be supported through the AGE-WELL EPIC training program and will be connected to a network of trainees interested in the implementation of AgeTech.

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in a related field (e.g., public health, health sciences, nursing)
  • Experience in mixed methods research, implementation science and protocol development
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with developing evaluation protocols
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse interested parties including older adults, clinicians and industry members
  • Strong writing and communication ability
  • Clinical background and wound care knowledge considered a strong asset
