Who You Are
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting Swift's accounting and financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, driving process improvements, ensuring compliance, and providing the financial insights that drive strategic decision making. The Assistant Controller will oversee and optimize Swift’s financial health, reporting, and planning as we scale. This position plays a key role in supporting financial best practices, optimizing reporting and budgeting, and supporting Swift’s growth through sound financial planning and analysis.

How You'll Make An Impact
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and journal entries.
- Month-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting and reconciliations.
- Payroll: Completion of the semi-monthly payroll for both Canadian and US employees
- AR Management: Manage the SaaS billings process for customers including invoicing and collections management.
- Audit Support: Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support to ensure smooth audit processes.
- Tax Compliance: Assist with tax filings, including sales tax, income tax, and other statutory reporting requirements, in collaboration with external tax advisors.
- Cash Management: Support cash flow forecasting and management, including overseeing banking relationships and maintaining adequate liquidity for operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation preferred
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian and US tax laws and regulations
- Excellent communication skills, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving
- Payroll experience/software knowledge is an asset (e.g. ADP, Ceridian)
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and engage with cross-functional stakeholders
- Ability to identify opportunities to streamline processes in accounting workflows, and support such projects to increase efficiency and reduce errors
